Tips from Peró Cabana do Pescador
Cabana do Pescador is the oldest and most traditional beach restaurant in Cabo Frio. Jamil dos Anjos (71) ran the place for the last fifty years and, three years ago, he leased the restaurant to a group of friends who struggle, not only to maintain the gastronomic tradition, but to see the Fisherman's Cabin recognized as a heritage site. history and culture of Cabo Frio.
The brothers Alexandre (36) and Ricardo Vidal (33) and their friend Marcelo Ale-xandre de Souza (34) are from Friburgo, but they knew Cabana do Pescador in their childhood. They used to go to the restaurant with their parents during their summer vacations in Peró. The memories of the time are of living in a paradise of untouched beauty and freedom. The childhood holidays influenced the formation of the group: tourism and the environment and the decision to take over the Cabana when Jamil chose to leave the scene. The friends decided to keep the place as the day they were there for the first time and had the feeling of stepping into paradise.
The "Cabana" does not have a power grid; live music, no way... The sound you hear is the waves on the rocks, the wind, the seagulls diving. A centenary canoe, used by Jamil's father in artisanal fishing, serves as a counter. Drinks and food are preserved like half a century ago, on ice, so stock is limited, but always fresh.
Discover the history of the Fisherman's Cabin
The Fisherman's Cabin used to serve as a shelter and support point for small fishing vessels. From the 1950s onwards, Pedro José dos Anjos, Jamil's father, realizing the need to serve small meals and drinks to fishermen and the few beachgoers at that time, opted for changes, transforming the old ranch into Cabana do Pescador. Over the years, through Jamil's hands, the place has become a restaurant.

In fiction, he is a former player, rich, resident of the Divino neighborhood, father of a family and of humble roots. The famous Typhoon, played by actor Murilo Benício, is naming a 71-year-old man who lives in the city of Cabo Frio, in the Lagos Region, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro.
Jamil Silva dos Anjos, Cabo Frio's 'Tufão', unlike the fictional one, has lived since he was born in Cabana do Pescador, located on Peró beach. The place that does not have electricity and running water has been transformed since the beginning of the year into the beach house in the soap opera Avenida Brasil.
Having trouble walking and talking because of Parkinson's disease, three years ago Jamil got the help of two friends in running the cabin. The first contact made by the production of the soap opera Avenida Brasil was at the beginning of the year when a producer traveled throughout the Lagos Region looking for a place that could be the beach house in Tufão.
''When he arrived here and saw the Cabin, he said it was the most suitable place. For being in front of the beach and also because of the beauty and simplicity.'' - said Alexandre Vidal, one of the administrators.
Seu Jamil followed every detail of the recording. When asked which actress he liked the most, the answer was on the tip of his tongue: Thessaly. ''She was the one I liked the most. She is very beautiful. Her hug is very good.''
